A wide selection of two-pole permanent magnet DC motors is available in open or enclosed construction. These UL recognized motors are available in 2.5-inch and 3.2-inch diameters with power output ranging from 0.1 to 3.5HP. Models available from 6 to 255 volts. Bearing, shaft, end bracket design, packaged rectifier, inherent overheating protection and gear box options available.
In the AMETEK Global Motors line of permanent magnet DC motors, field coils are replaced by high-strength, reliable ceramic magnets. Elimination of the wound field reduces the possibility of failure and results in a more robust motor design. Differentiated from wound field motors, permanent magnet motors have a linear speed vs. torque relationship to facilitate speed control.
Permanent magnet motors are more compact than other motors of comparable power and have fewer working parts thus simplifying the design and manufacturing process. The net result is a cooler, lighter weight, more efficient motor with less power loss, lower temperature rise and a virtually maintenance-free operation to ensure customer satisfaction.
